MAE WEST, pe numele ei real Mary Jane West, născută la 17 august 1893 în Woodhaven, New York, a fost o actriţă şi un sex simbol american al decadei anilor 30-40. Această doamnă, ce nu ducea lipsă deloc de încredere în sine, a devenit faimoasă şi pentru
sarcasmul ei memorabil, imortalizat în celebre fraze ca:
